Brother Sun Sister Moon
Listening to Jewel Akens, Johnny Horton, The Tokens and Roy Acuff Dave Lambert knew he was to be a guitar player. He didn't actually start playing, however until age 7. But along the way Dave's Dad acquired a stack of 45's from a friend at a radio station. Dave would listen to them over and over on a small record player… mostly blues and soul records from the late 50's.
Continuing his learning Dave soon discovered the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Alvin Lee, Robin Trower, Allman Brothers, Johnny Winter, Eric Clapton, Chet Atkins, Wes Montgomery, Creedence Clearwater, Ted Nugent, Montrose, Bob Seger System and other influences from the late 60's and early 70's. But the blues had already taken root and spoke with great intensity to his heart. He spent many hours spinning LP's and learning all of the licks he could glean from his favorite artists' songs.
Dave's stage career started early playing guitar for bands whose players were older than he was performing at school dances, parties and talent contests. Upon graduation Dave undertook a career in playing music that has never ended.
The journey has taken him through 50's and 60's music, Elvis impersonators, country bands, and a host of Top 40 and classic rock cover bands spanning 4 decades and every state in the union and including several other countries.
He has shared stages with many great and influential people. Names like Rick Danko, Buddy Rich, The Crickets, April Wine, Rusty Burns and John O'Daniels of Point Blank, Corey Stevens, Rocky Athas, Smokin' Joe Kubek and more recently Lee Tedrow, Shaun Murphy, Joe Bonamassa, Rickey Godfrey, Rusty Wright, JoAnna Conner, Rachelle Coba, Bobby Messano, Rb Stone, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes and McKinney Williams just to name a few. And the list goes on….
The blues bug bit Dave in the mid 80's when he switched from the heavy metal and rock he was playing to pursue the blues learning all he could from old slide greats and every recording he could get his hands on defining his own style and techniques he uses to date.
Dave currently works with his band The Motivators when not out with the very talented a beautiful Donna Dahl in a dynamic duo called Brother Sun Sister Moon. He is busy churning out new songs in an effort to keep it always fresh and new.
Currently Dave has recorded four of his own releases on Holy Joe Records and is a guest on over a dozen other recordings under other artist's names and labels.
Whether it is Texas Blues, Delta, Chicago or straight up Rock Blues Dave continues to keep his name in the Indie Blues ring.
Donna Dahl, an award winning blues rock artist, began her career in the Midwest playing percussion and string bass in the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies.
Dahl progressed playing drum set in funk and progressive rock genres, winning St. Paul Central High School's Louis Armstrong Jazz Award.
Currently Dahl enjoys a career as half of the duo Brother Sun Sister Moon, a high-energy drums/guitar act, with singer-songwriter and slide master Dave Lambert. BSSM held their place at the 2015 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and simultaneously released their self-titled debut album, mastered by the legendary Terry Manning.
Working principally with BSSM, and the band Dave Lambert & The Motivators, Dahl has shared the stage with artists in club, festival and showcase settings, including legends Teeny Tucker, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, Bobby Messano, Rb Stone, Joanna Connor, Watermelon Slim, Rachelle Coba, Rusty Wright, Annie Mack and Rickey Godfrey.
BSSM's soon-to-be-released second album features Dahl's compositions and collaborations, as she returns to the 2016 WIB (Women In Blues) Showcase as an invitational performer.
